Mobitel and Research In Motion introduce the BlackBerry Wireless Solution in Slovenia
25 January 2007 – Mobitel and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced the launch of the BlackBerry® wireless solution to customers in Slovenia. Mobitel will initially offer the popular and proven BlackBerry service on the high-performance BlackBerry 8700g™ handset.
BlackBerry provides mobile users with a phone, push-based e-mail, text messaging, organiser, access to the Internet and corporate data systems.
The BlackBerry 8700g is a sleek, lightweight and stylish all-in-one handset that features a full QWERTY keyboard and 64 MB of flash memory to deliver a fast web browsing, application, email and attachment viewing experience.
The BlackBerry 8700g is equipped with premium phone features such as dedicated ‘send,’ ‘end’ and ‘mute’ keys, smart dialling, conference calling, speed dialling and automatic call forwarding, as well as speakerphone and Bluetooth® support for hands-free use with wireless headsets and car kits.
Featuring a bright, high resolution screen that supports more than 65,000 colours to deliver vivid graphics, the BlackBerry 8700g also incorporates an intelligent light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts the screen and keyboard lighting to provide optimised viewing in outdoor, indoor and dark environments.
Mobitel is offering the BlackBerry 8700g for €1 as part of a BlackBerry subscription package over a 12 month subscription period.
The BlackBerry service can be used by all Mobitel subscribers, either by adding it to their existing subscription package for a monthly fee of €15, or by selecting the BlackBerry subscription package with a €49.99 monthly fee. Both solutions include data transfer in Slovenia. Calls, SMS messages and other services are charged according to the relevant price-list.
For corporate customers, BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software tightly integrates with Microsoft® Exchange, IBM Lotus® Domino® and Novell® GroupWise® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.
Mobitel plans to extend its BlackBerry handset and service offerings in the near future.
